Kirsty – Manager

Hello! I qualified with a NNEB qualification from York College in 1995 and started working as a nanny and I have also worked in two York nurseries before I started working at Stockton Lane Playgroup in  2011. I absolutely love working at Stockton Lane, it is the best setting I have worked in, I love the family feel that we provide and the fact that each child is treated as an individual and cared for as if they are our own. I feel myself and the other practitioners have a really close relationship and this helps to provide a warm, friendly atmosphere for everyone.

I love reading story books, my favourite children’s author is Julia Donaldson but I also enjoy the Supertato range of books.I enjoy singing but unfortunately can’t sing in tune!

Katie, Deputy Manager, Robins/Poppies Group

I have worked in both schools and nursery settings for 13 years. I have also supported children with additional needs. I have worked at SLP for 7 years! Early years is where my heart is as no two days are the same! Working with the children is such a rewarding job! SLP is such a fab community of staff and parents (committee) working together to provide children with the best possible learning environment so they can reach their full potential! I am passionate about providing children with a calm space where they feel safe, happy and content!

I love forest schools and getting out in nature and the experience this brings for the children. I like dancing to music and doing Yoga! AND I absolutely love books and bringing stories to life! Fave book is a hard one as I have loads but super worm is high up there with bear hunt and many more!

Louise Ho, Early Years Practitioner, Hummingbirds/Bluebells Group

I’ve been working in Early Years settings for 9 years now and have a Level 3 qualification. I first became interested in working in Early Years when I saw the huge impact an enriching pre-school environment had on my own two children. I started as a parent volunteer and I quickly realised how much I loved this fast paced, engaging and fun environment.

I enjoy working in Early Years as no two days are the same. I love chatting to children, hearing their ideas and getting to know their individual personalities. It feels like a privilege to be part of their day. I love seeing children slowly grow in confidence, make new friends and learn new skills.

I really enjoy reading books, my favourites include We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and Zog. I enjoy baking and being outdoors getting messy in the play kitchen. I enjoy growing vegetables but I’m scared of spiders so I make sure I always wear my gloves!

Daisy Brierley, Early Years Practitioner, Kingfishers/Sweetpeas Group

I have recently finished studying Children’s learning, play and development at a Level 3 qualification at Archbishop Holgate’s Sixth Form. As part of this I completed numerous placements at different settings and this is when I realised the impact that the early years practitioners have on young individuals and I wanted to be able to make a difference to children’s learning and development.

I enjoy reading books and my favourite is the Hungry Caterpillar. My favourite thing to do is baking and cooking but not tidying up. I love being active and outdoors and my favourite hobby is horse riding.
